Associate Dean of Research

Professor of Politics and International Relations

I am the Associate Dean of Research and Professor of Politics and International Relations at King’s University College at the University of Western Ontario (London, Ontario, Canada).

As an experienced academic leader, I bring a forward-looking vision for liberal arts education grounded in interdisciplinarity, experiential learning, global engagement, and community partnerships. I am dedicated to building collaborative and inclusive academic environments that empower students and faculty to tackle complex societal challenges and advance ethical action for the common good.

I am an internationally renowned expert on global political economy, known widely for my path breaking research on gender and trade. My work is centered in a commitment to social justice and ethical action by working to correct long-standing inequities based on gender, race, class, and other intersectional identity characteristics.

As editor of Global Political Economy, 7th Edition (Oxford University Press, 2024) and Editor-in-Chief of the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Politics, I strive to amplify underrepresented voices and contribute to creating more inclusive academic landscapes.

I have held several major national and international research grants to investigate the conditions under which trade can act as a lever for progressive social change, gender equality, and sustainable development. Working at the intersection of economic policy and human rights, I routinely advise governments and international organizations on developing equitable and inclusive trade policy and minimizing the adverse impacts of trade policy on vulnerable communities including women, racialized people, 2SLGBTQIA+, Indigenous people, and those living with disabilities.
